Summer at West Horsley Place

16 Jun, 2026

Families are invited to enjoy a summer packed with creativity, storytelling, nature and hands-on experiences as we launch our exciting programme of holiday workshops and activities for children and young people.

Running throughout the summer holidays, the programme offers opportunities to explore art, film, animation, music, history, nature and printmaking in the unique surroundings of the historic estate.

From budding filmmakers and performers to aspiring artists, nature lovers and young historians, there is something to inspire every imagination.

Highlights include Art Adventures on 28 July and 18 August, where children can explore their creativity through a range of artistic activities, and Spooks on Screen on 30 July, a filmmaking workshop encouraging young creatives to develop and produce their own cinematic stories.

Creative makers can take part in Treasured Creations, a decoupage keepsake box workshop, or join Design & Print: Totebags, a family-friendly printmaking session, both taking place on 6 August.

History comes to life with Servants in Training, a 1930s family adventure running on 10 and 27 August. Young visitors will step back in time to discover what life was like behind the scenes at a country house, taking on challenges and activities inspired by the estate's past.

Animation enthusiasts can enjoy Lights, Camera, Clay! on 12 August, a stop-motion animation workshop combining storytelling with hands-on model making, while aspiring designers can create their own wearable artwork in Print It Wear It, a collograph t-shirt printing workshop taking place on 13 and 28 August.

Families can also discover the beauty of the natural world through Nature's Hidden Patterns on 13 August, an engaging workshop exploring the fascinating shapes, structures and designs found throughout nature.

For those who love the stage, Musicals at the Manor on 24 August offers a high-energy day of singing, movement and performance for young people aged 9–18.

The programme concludes with LEGO Print Lab on 28 August, an inventive family workshop that transforms LEGO bricks into unique printmaking tools.

Throughout the summer holidays, families can also take part in a free summer trail and organised nature walks, offering another fun way to explore the estate and learn about the minibeasts that call it home.

Set against the backdrop of one of Surrey's most fascinating historic estates, the summer programme offers families a chance to learn new skills, make memories and experience West Horsley Place in creative and unexpected ways.

Beyond the workshops, families can make a day of their visit by exploring the wider estate. With acres of beautiful grounds to discover, visitors can enjoy walks through historic landscapes, spot wildlife, and follow nature trails around the site. This summer also offers the chance to experience the new Willow Walk, a tranquil route that encourages visitors to connect with nature and explore the estate from a fresh perspective.

Whether taking part in a workshop or simply enjoying the outdoors, West Horsley Place provides plenty of space for families to relax, play and explore together.
