Our Grade I listed Manor House, formal gardens, orchards, barns and estate provide the most beautiful, atmospheric setting, full of historic charm and gentle grandeur. Wedding dates are limited so early enquires are encouraged. A wedding at West Horsley Place is something truly special: intimate, exclusive, and unforgettable.

Ceremonies

The Manor House and Place Farm Barn are licensed for wedding ceremonies, and all couples are welcome here. We do not charge a separate ceremony fee. Please note that registrar’s fees are not included and are booked directly with Surrey County Council.

Spaces

Design the day of your moving through the Manor House, gardens and barn

  • The Stone Hall

The Stone Hall, named for its flagstones made from York stone, is where King Henry VIII had a 35-course banquet when visiting West Horsley Place in 1536. Classical in style, the Stone Hall has a light and elegant atmosphere for receptions or dinners of up to 100 people.

Licensed for wedding ceremonies of 102.

  • The Morning Room

With views across the home paddock, parquet flooring and hung with historic paintings, the Morning Room offers a sophisticated and stylish space for receptions and seated dinners, catering for up to 60 guests.

Licensed for wedding ceremonies of 65.

  • The Library

West Horsley Place is home to the remarkable Crewe Book Collection (much of which has now been donated to Trinity College, Cambridge) which forms our atmospheric library. Floor-to-ceiling bookcases, antique furniture and mediaeval wall arches (complete with witches’ marks) have made this room a favourite with filmmakers.

Available for receptions and seated dinners, catering for up to 40 guests.

  • Place Farm Barn

Place Farm Barn is a Grade II listed converted and restored double height barn. With polished concrete floors complementing the exposed brick, and modern heating and technical facilities, it is rustic yet supremely comfortable.

The barn can accommodate up to 150 guests.

  • The Walled Garden

Our 5 acres of formal walled gardens were laid out in 1710 and feature the rare and beautiful crinkle-crankle serpentine wall, as well as a charming and spacious walled orchard. The gardens offer a variety of possible locations for marquees of any size.

Receptions

Our philosophy is that every event hosted here should be something very personal, so you will work with our dedicated event planner to create the day of your dreams. Your guests will have exclusive use of the Manor House and/or barn and gardens on the day. We have preferred and recommended caterers, florists and other suppliers who are experienced at interpreting your wishes and working with our venue for the best possible results.

Our weddings dates are limited to protect the integrity of the site and ensure each celebration receives our full attention. Dates tend to book quickly and are released by email, so please use the form below to get in touch if you’d like to be the first to know about future availability.

The day we didn't stop smiling!

From the moment we arrived at West Horsley Place, we knew it was something special. The sweeping, wild beauty of the gardens gave us the most magical backdrop for our guests to enjoy our drinks reception — timeless, romantic, and full of quiet charm. Cocktails in the rustic Cow Shed, where laughter echoed off the old beams and glasses clinked under soft golden light. The bright and airy Barn houses long tables that were filled with delicious food, heartfelt speeches, followed by the joyful chaos of friends and family dancing into the night.
Every part of West Horsley Place gave us something unforgettable. It wasn't just a venue — it was a feeling.

Perfect for a romantic country house wedding

West Horsley Place was the first wedding venue we could see as a couple. It is one of the closest venues to our home and only does a few weddings per year, making it feel extra special. However, it is also a charitable enterprise under the West Horsley Place Trust, meaning that our money would not only be used for the restoration project of the beautiful Grade I listed house and estate but also the encouragement of the performing arts. West Horsley Place is perfect for a romantic country house wedding due to the amazing backdrop and architecture for photographs and the fantastic team willing to assist you at every stage of the wedding planning and event itself. A special thank you goes to Carolyn Farrell for ensuring everything was perfect for us.
