Weddings at West Horsley Place

A Grade I listed manor house, a barn, and 380 acres of Surrey to yourselves

West Horsley Place has been home to nine families over seven centuries. Henry VIII owned it. A duchess lived out her last years here in a handful of rooms while the rest of the house slept around her. It is still being restored, so you will find worn flagstones, faded paintwork and light coming through very old glass. Beautiful in a way that has taken six hundred years to happen, and impossible to recreate anywhere else.

We host only a small number of weddings each year, and every one is an exclusive hire. The whole site is included in the hire fee, so for your day the house, the barn and the gardens belong to you and the people you love.

Three settings, and you choose

Pick a setting for your special day or combine all three. Most couples move through the day: a ceremony in one place, drinks in the gardens, dinner somewhere else, and dancing as the sun goes down.

  • The Manor House

    Grand, atmospheric and full of history. For a formal celebration in rooms that have seen a few.

  • The Barn

    Relaxed, rustic and full of light. For long tables, laughter and a party that runs late.

  • The Walled Garden

    A marquee among old brick walls, with the house behind you and the orchard and open fields beyond.

The Practical Details

We are licensed for civil ceremonies on site, so you can marry here as well as celebrate here.

We can welcome up to 150 guests, or 180 with a marquee in the walled gardens.

For photographs you have the walled gardens, the orchard, open fields and the manor house itself. Your photographer will not be short of anywhere to stand.

De Vere Horsley Towers is a five-minute drive for guests staying over. And from 2027 we will open our cottage on the estate, which sleeps up to ten, so your closest family can wake up where it is all happening (available at an additional charge).

Making your day

Our philosophy is that every event hosted here should be something very personal, so you will work with our dedicated event planner to create the day of your dreams. Your guests will have exclusive use of the Manor House and/or barn and gardens on the day. We have preferred and recommended caterers, florists and other suppliers who are experienced at interpreting your wishes and working with our venue for the best possible results.

Dates and rates

We only offer a select number of Saturdays each year to protect the integrity of the site and ensure each celebration receives our full attention. There is still some late summer and autumn availability for 2027, however, dates tend to book quickly and are released by email. The day we didn't stop smiling!

From the moment we arrived at West Horsley Place, we knew it was something special. The sweeping, wild beauty of the gardens gave us the most magical backdrop for our guests to enjoy our drinks reception — timeless, romantic, and full of quiet charm. Cocktails in the rustic Cow Shed, where laughter echoed off the old beams and glasses clinked under soft golden light. The bright and airy Barn houses long tables that were filled with delicious food, heartfelt speeches, followed by the joyful chaos of friends and family dancing into the night.
Every part of West Horsley Place gave us something unforgettable. It wasn't just a venue — it was a feeling.

Perfect for a romantic country house wedding

West Horsley Place was the first wedding venue we could see as a couple. It is one of the closest venues to our home and only does a few weddings per year, making it feel extra special. However, it is also a charitable enterprise under the West Horsley Place Trust, meaning that our money would not only be used for the restoration project of the beautiful Grade I listed house and estate but also the encouragement of the performing arts. West Horsley Place is perfect for a romantic country house wedding due to the amazing backdrop and architecture for photographs and the fantastic team willing to assist you at every stage of the wedding planning and event itself. Our dream day

A massive and very sincere thank you for everything you did for our wedding - not least letting us have our reception at WHP but all the background logistics you did that meant the day ran so smoothly.
