BRING YOUR GROUP TO WEST HORSLEY PLACE

Group visits from £22 per person (minimum of 10 people).
Available all year round, booked in advance.

Come and spend a morning or an afternoon with us in one of Surrey's most interesting historic houses. Nine families have lived here over seven centuries, Henry VIII owned it and came to stay, and if you watch BBC's Ghosts you'll know it as Button House. The house is still being restored, so what you see is the real thing, layers and all.

Whether you're a WI, a history society, a coach party or a group of friends who fancy a day out together, we'd love to show you round.

We can welcome groups of 10 to 66 people, with three guides running tours at the same time, so a full coach fits comfortably in one visit. Tours last around an hour and a half to two hours and take in the Manor House and the Walled Garden.

  • Nooks & Crannies

    Our tour of the whole house and the people who have called it home. Hidden corners, remarkable rooms, royal visitors and family stories, from its medieval beginnings to the present day. A lovely first visit for any group.

  • Tudor Traces

    Follow Henry VIII through the house he owned and visited. See the Tudor architecture and gardens, hear about the guests he brought with him, and meet the other Tudors who shaped this place, from Elizabeth I's friendship with the lady of the house to the dramatic rise and fall of the Courtenays. Perfect for history lovers.

  • Filming Favourites

    For Ghosts fans and anyone who enjoys seeing a favourite location in real life. Walk through the rooms, corridors and gardens you know as Button House, and hear how the house has been used in Ghosts and other productions filmed here.

Make a day of it

All our tours can be made a little more special. Prices are per person and include the tour.

  • Mulled cider by the fire, December to February. Finish your tour in the Stone Hall with mulled cider and a mince pie by the fire.

  • Cream tea in the Manor House after your tour. A relaxed way to round off the visit.

  • Sparkling wine and canapés to welcome your group or to send them home happy.

  • Lunch or afternoon tea. Boxed light lunches or a full afternoon tea, priced depending on numbers. Just ask, and we'll send you the menus.

Visiting at Christmas

From 30th November, the Manor House is dressed for Christmas. It's a wonderful time to bring a group: the fires are lit, the rooms are decorated, and December tours end in the Stone Hall with carols, mulled cider and mince pies. December dates fill up quickly, so do get in touch early.

Larger Groups

Bringing more than 66? We can put together a day around your group, with staggered tours and time in the garden or a cream tea in the barn in between, or morning and afternoon sessions with a concert or workshop alongside. Tell us your numbers and what your group enjoys, and we'll build something around you.

Good To Know

Free parking on site, with space for coaches.

Step-free access through much of the Manor House and Place Farm Barn, a lift to the second floor, a buggy from the car park for anyone who'd like it, and accessible toilets across the site.

The ground floor of the manor house is accessible for wheelchair users. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to open both front doors, and the single door may not be wide enough for wheelchair users. We will facilitate access for wheelchair users and buggies through an alternative entrance as needed.

We have stone-flagged floors and ancient floorboards, so surfaces may be uneven. We may need to limit the number of wheelchair users on the first floor at any one time so that everyone can be evacuated safely; please ask when you enquire.

Our pop-up café in the barn courtyard serves hot drinks and snacks.
