New Living History Festivals for 2026

08 Dec, 2025

We’re thrilled to announce a brand new element to our events programme for 2026 – Living History festivals at West Horsley Place!

Over 2026, four living history festivals will delve into particular moments in our fascinating past.

These unforgettable weekends will let you step into the past, wander through centuries, and experience history as if you were truly there. From atmospheric encounters to immersive storytelling, each event is designed to bring our remarkable house to life. Expect living history interpretation, hands-on activities to take part in and always some family fun!

Regency Revels

Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 April

Step into the elegance of the Regency era - quite literally - as we take to the dance floor! Wander the Manor House and grounds as we share stories from our Regency past, sample authentic period food, and learn the steps of the era.

Hosting Henry VIII

Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 July

Our top event of the year returns due to popular  demand! There’s no time in history like the Tudor period for intrigue, love  affairs and treasonous plots – it’s got all the drama! In July we will recreate Henry VIII’s  1533 visit with jousting, falconry displays and Tudor food tastings and  a visit from the King himself.

Saxon Saga

Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 October

In October 2026, as the nights draw in and the afternoon sun goes down we will travel back to a time when the very first Manor House was built on the West Horsley Place estate. Saxon warriors will descend on West Horsley, setting up camp and doing battle. Expect the spark of blades and we might all go up in flames.

Crewe's Christmas

Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 November

Experience the house when it was owned by Lord and Lady Crewe. Famous for glamorous parties, attended by people such as Queen Mary and Ian Fleming, we bring into colour the life depicted in their black and white photographs. We will explore stories from the early 20th century and WWII.
