Crewe's Christmas

Living History Festival & Immersive Ballet

Explore the manor house dressed for a 1940s Christmas and experience an immersive ballet

A surprise awaits in the beautifully decorated Manor House at our Christmas Open Weekend. As you explore the rooms dressed for a 1940s Christmas, discover our World War II stories and experience an immersive ballet performance of Swan Lake.

Our knowledgeable stewards will share the fascinating forties festive stories woven into the fabric of this remarkable house. Lord & Lady Crewe were highly cultured patrons of the arts, this December you can experience being entertained in a manner they would have enjoyed: a classic ballet . See the letters of 40 evacuee children who spent Christmas 1939 here, learn about how close the manor came to be being destroyed by bombs and much more.
