Understanding Teens
A Parent’s Guide to Supporting Mental Health by Joe’s Buddy Line
This evening conference for parents of secondary school students will give you clear, practical tools to better understand your teenager and support their mental health. Delivered by Joe’s Buddy Line.
Raising teenagers can be rewarding, but it can also feel confusing and overwhelming at times. Between school stress, friendships, and life online, young people face challenges that can affect their wellbeing. As parents, we want to be there for them — but it isn’t always easy to know how.
📌 Session 1 – Helping Teenagers Cope with Life’s Ups and Downs
When life gets difficult, many young people hide their feelings or try to “just get on with it.” But the real skill they need is knowing how to recognise their emotions and manage them in healthy ways. In this session, you’ll learn how to support your child when they’re upset or stressed, and how this helps them learn to calm themselves over time. You’ll take away simple strategies to help your teen handle challenges without bottling things up.
📌 Session 2 – Social Media and Mental Health
Social media plays a big role in our teenagers’ lives — it can make them feel connected and inspired, but it can also lead to stress, comparison, or pressure. This session will explore how social media affects young people’s wellbeing, and how our own habits with phones and devices can influence theirs. You’ll get practical ideas to encourage healthy use of technology at home.
Join us for an evening that will help you feel more equipped to support your teenager through the ups and downs of adolescence.
