Beginners Basketry

A Basket Weaving Workshop

Make a small round fruit basket with expert tutor Judith Needham

This is a great introduction to basketry for complete beginners and makes a good practice session for those with some basket making experience.

You will make a round basket about 10cm tall and 20cm diameter - perfect for displaying fruit.

Basket making is a fascinating craft involving many different techniques and yet using only a single material – Somerset willow in this case. Keeping your first basket small gives you time to perfect each technique and really get to understand how a basket is constructed.

It makes for a very interesting day with the bonus of taking home a beautiful, functional object that you’ve made yourself.

JUDITH NEEDHAM

Judith Needham is best known for her fairytale woven willow playhouses but she also loves passing on her skills and has been teaching basket making and willow sculpture for 15 years.
