Tudor Sugar Banquet for Young Courtiers
A festive family workshop
Step into a Tudor feast day and become a royal sweet-maker for the afternoon!
In this fun, hands-on workshop, children will:
Roll, shape, and colour marchpane (a sweet almond-sugar dough once fit for kings and queens).
Create tiny fruits, flowers, crowns, animals, even cheeky little banquet mice, just like Tudor cooks made for royal tables.
Paint and decorate their treats with edible gold dust and floral waters to make them shine.
Hear stories of Tudor feasts, from banquets taller than a child to the curious treats made to impress Henry VIII himself.
Take home a little box of handmade Tudor sweets — a banquet in miniature — and a recipe to share the magic with friends and family.

Geanina Grigore
Geanina brings two decades of teaching experience to her immersive workshops, where history, nature, and hands-on crafting meet. Growing up in a rural village shaped her deep respect for the land and traditional skills, and her passion for herbal remedies and ancient crafts took root in the countryside.
Geanina brings history to life through her knowledge of 15th- and 17th-century stillrooms, where household remedies, aromatic waters, and cosmetics were skillfully prepared by maids and gentlewomen. Frequently dressed in medieval or Tudor costume, she demonstrates traditional herbal practices and remedies, recreating the ambience of these historical spaces filled with the scents of dried herbs, roses, and spices.
