Discover our Wellbeing Spaces

As you explore our 400 acres of parkland, pasture and woodland you may come across our wellbeing spaces.

These are designed to encourage you to rest, reflect, recharge or get active. They are designed for all ages with a view to enriching your experience of spending time in our historic landscape.

  • Cloud Pallet – How to Use

Take a moment to slow down.

The cloud pallet is a place for rest, reflection, and looking up. Lean back and allow yourself to pause. Watch the movement of the clouds, notice the changing light, and take a few deep breaths.

    You might choose to:

    • Follow the shapes of the clouds and imagine what they resemble

    • Simply rest your eyes and listen to the sounds around you

    • Use this space for quiet conversation or personal reflection

There’s no right or wrong way to use this space—just take the time you need.

  • Reading Nook

The reading nook is a place to pause, sit, and enjoy a moment of calm. Settle in with a book, a poem, or simply your own thoughts. Surrounded by the landscape, it’s an opportunity to slow down and reconnect—with nature, with stories, or with yourself.

    You might choose to:

    • Read something you’ve brought with you

    • Sit quietly and enjoy the space without reading at all

Take your time—there’s no rush here.

  • Playing Field- How to Use

When the sign says open, you are welcome to use Home Paddock—the large field in front of the manor house—as a space to play, relax, and enjoy the outdoors.

    This is a place for:

    • Informal games and gentle activity

    • Picnics with family and friends

    • Time to move, explore, or simply sit and take in the view

Please be mindful of others using the space and help us care for the landscape. When the sign says closed, the playing field is shut.

  • The Looking Place

Pause here and take a closer look.

This frame invites you to see the landscape differently—to focus your view and appreciate the beauty of the historic parkland beyond. Step up, look through, and notice the details: the trees, the light, the changing seasons.

    You might choose to:

    • Frame your favourite view

    • Take a photograph

    • Simply stand still and take it all in

This is a place to slow down and really see.

  • Rock Gallery- How to Use

This is a space for sharing, creativity, and small discoveries.

You are invited to take a stone and leave a stone—adding your own contribution to this evolving gallery. Each piece tells a small story, whether painted, decorated, or simply chosen for its shape or texture.

    You might choose to:

    • Leave a decorated stone for others to find

    • Take one that catches your eye

    • Spend a moment exploring what others have created

Please keep the exchange balanced—if you take a stone, consider leaving one for someone else.
