Inspired by Elizabeth I's week-long visit to WHP in 1559, year 6 students from The Raleigh School worked with Guildford Shakespeare Company to re-imagine the 1559 Festival of Revels with a special promenade performance throughout the house and grounds of West Horsley Place. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 60 children and a wonderful way to mark the end of their primary school journey.

Guildford Shakespeare Company, known for their innovative site-specific performances, transformed the house with a series of mini plays around this year’s theme: Kings and Queens.
The pupils had the opportunity to rehearse in the Manor House and perform a dress rehearsal to year 4 and 5 pupils from the same school. This was all leading to an evening performance for their parents, families and friends, which celebrated the end of their school year.

Our sincerest thanks to our wonderful partner for this project: Guildford Shakespeare Company and to the brilliant students of The Raleigh School. We wish them all the best as they move into secondary school and hope they have a lovely summer holiday.
