Mary Roxburghe Trust to Offer the First ‘Pathfinder’ Art Workshop this Summer Led by Artist Katie Sollohub
The Mary Roxburghe Trust is delighted to announce the commencement of a trial ‘Pathfinder’ arts workshop this summer. Its purpose is to enable learning to take place here at the earliest opportunity, even before renovation works and using our existing spaces as they are. We want to learn from the experience in preparation for future programmes. At present, one course is planned for 2018 although it is possible more may be added – keep an eye on our website!
Charcoal Drawing- Interiors
Led by Katie Sollohub
10th August 2018
Fresh from her residency at Turner’s House in Twickenham the Charcoal Drawing Interiors workshop will be led by talented artist and charcoal drawing specialist Katie Sollohub. Come and be inspired by the unique, romantic and delicate atmosphere of of West Horsley Place. Explore it visually and physically, as you wander around the house with pencil and charcoal in hand, discovering its nooks and crannies. In preparation for making large charcoal drawings in situ, you will first make tiny drawings on handheld pieces of paper as you wander, getting to know the house. There will be the opportunity to enjoy a short meditation or simply find your own moments of stillness, to encourage you to engage with a sense of place, how you feel in it, not just how it looks. Guided exercises will then lead you into using charcoal in an expressive and experimental way, to bring your experience of space alive – with marks, texture, light and dark, atmosphere, details, pattern, history, smells and sounds all playing their part.
Suitable for all levels of experience. Materials for the workshop and tea/coffee included. Bring your own lunch and picnic in our beautiful gardens.
10 places only are available for the workshop.
Booking opens Monday 9th July from 10am- call our office on 01483 282032 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to secure your place.
