Step back in time to 1930s West Horsley Place on our Upstairs Downstairs tour. Lady Crewe is preparing for a dinner party for distinguished guests and needs your help.

On this interactive tour for families, children become trainee servants, learning tasks that would have been undertaken by the household staff. You’ll make lemonade in the historic kitchen, prepare a bedroom fireplace by making a 1930’s style firelighter, polish the silverware to prepare for the party.

Once the table is set and everything is ready, Queen Mary and other distinguished guests will arrive. Accompanying adults take a seat at the table to take up their characters.

This tour brings our 1930’s visitor and accounts book to life. Our volunteers worked to identify servants and purchases listed in the accounts book and visitors from signatures in our visitors book which feature on the tour.

These tours are suitable for families with children aged 5-11 years old and are just over 1 hour. Once your tour is over, take some time to enjoy our formal gardens and enjoy make and take crafts in the Manor House.
